My thesis film follows the story of an unexpected relationship between a young Princess and a "Fairy Godmother for Hire" in a world where fairytales are the norm, and everyone has an assigned part to play.
The making of:
Vision boards, providing inspiration both for imagery and design choices and also for style and colour.
Research that I used to establish a canon of architecture in my world. The street and shop scenes were inspired by 17th century German architecture (left board) to contrast the scene in the ballroom, which was inspired by the extravangance and indulgence of 17th century French architecture (right board).
These are my character designs for the Princess (left) and the Fairy (right).

I also created an expression sheet and I went in to further detail from the character designs to make a reference sheet for my helpers on how to draw the characters hands and how they should differ from each other.

My colour board stood as an oppurtunity for me to establish the feel of each scene with colour only.

Initial sketches (both digital and scanned from my sketchbook) for the main two locations in my film.

The process of my first background, from sketch to experimenting with colour and lighting, to the final product. I ended up changing the perspective and using pinker tones, to project a brighter more fantasy feel.
